SHOULD I PLAY WONDERERS: ETERNAL WORLD?
If you're looking for a fun chibi-style game with PVP/PVE elements and a similar style to MapleStory 2, Wonderers: Eternal World is worth looking at. I had a blast exploring this open world and combining action and strategy to progress through the levels. Nevertheless, as fun as it was exploring the world of Wonderers, I experienced crashes, glitches, and slow patch downloads that made it an extremely frustrating title to play. User beware!
TIME PLAYED
I'm currently around four hours into Wonderers: Eternal World. I've spent most of this time checking out the PVE mode and hacking and slashing away at enemies while upgrading my character.
WHAT'S AWESOME ABOUT WONDERERS: ETERNAL WORLD?
• The PVP and PVE combo. Wonderers: Eternal World has two dedicated modes, and they’re both available immediately. As a fan of hack n' slash games, getting into a four-on-four PVP matchup was exciting and put my combat skills to the test. I'm not very good, but it was fun nonetheless. The PVE element was equally fun, and I really enjoyed collecting useful artifacts and upgrading my character. Between these two modes, Wonderers did a good job of keeping me engaged.
• The adorable art and music. The chibi-styled characters made me feel like I was in an anime, and the surrounding environments were vibrant and colorful. I also appreciated the level layout. Like I said earlier, the visuals reminded me a lot of MapleStory. I even found myself humming along to some of its catchy tunes. The opening title song that wasn't in English, but it stayed in my head nonetheless.
WHAT'S SUCKS ABOUT WONDERERS: ETERNAL WORLD?
• The glitches. Nothing is more frustrating than your game suddenly freezing mid-run, forcing you to restart. Unfortunately, this happened multiple times while I was playing Wonderers: Eternal World. I'm not even expecting a high level of technical performance; I just want to feel assured that my game won't suddenly crash. Unfortunately, I didn't get that peace of mind with this one.
• This isn't the next great narrative. Perhaps it's not what it's trying to be, but there is barely any plot in Wonderers: Eternal World. The story here is barely strung together, and this title mostly revolves around its gameplay. There are folks out there who might put this into the plus column, but as a guy who loves a good story, a better narrative would've only made the title stronger.
