Mobile porting worthy old style heir of the 90s classic in HD
📖 Storyline: It starts with an old style film (from the PS1) that briefly tells us the story of the protagonist and the beginning of her new mission.
🎮 Gameplay: It wasn't a free title, but fans didn't hesitate to spend just under a euro in 2015 to once again take on the role of Lara Croft in the Mobile version. The classic third-person platformer finally arrived on Android devices and allowed you to take a dive into the past, to the era when games were as imperfect as they were fun. Playing a title like this today undoubtedly makes us notice a vast amount of defects, but this title for Android broke the gap with the PS1 version with a clean level design almost similar to the current remastered. Nostalgists will appreciate the chance to adventure, once again, with the famous heroine. The difficulty of the game consists, just like in the original one, in finding the way and completing the mission. In this Android version, the complexity also increases due to the difficulty of managing the character, given that to avoid some traps or antagonists we will need to perform some acrobatic moves, typical of the heroine, which will be very difficult to perform. Lara Croft, in this game, will most likely remind you more of an awkward and clumsy young girl, instead of a capable and combative adventurer. But all in all it's a pleasure to play it on a smartphone.
🕹️ Controls: The entire game is in English and no Italian subtitles are available. After taking Lara's passport in our hands with a tap, we will be able to view a new video and then start the real game. The controls will surprise you right from the start, given that we will have eight touchscreen buttons and the classic stick to manage the movements of the British adventurer. Through the many controls we will be able to decide whether to run or walk, explore the area, use or put down the weapon, aim, jump and move the protagonist in various ways. The biggest difficulty is that Lara runs too fast, it looks like those classic 1920s films, I don't know if it's a bug wanted by SquareEnix. The touchscreen controls, at least for me, manage to offer a good and fluid gaming experience. Shortly after, we will be able to start testing the weapon, or rather the protagonist's two famous guns, to knock out bats, wolves, bears, spiders, etc. In addition to still using the weapon to destroy wolves and other enemies, we will have to run (you can decide to make it run automatically), walk, jump, climb (here too just tick the empty box in controls and make it climb automatically), activate levers, collect objects and perform all the classic Lara actions.
