Thor in Ragnarok Online Mobile: In-Depth Review of the Art of Glass Cannon DPS

Introduction:
Thor, finally i write about this job, the formidable DPS job class in Ragnarok Online Mobile, embodies the essence of a TRUE glass cannon, delivering devastating damage while risking himself juggling between enemy firepower to maintain his survivability. This job to be honest really put me in a huge dilemma, should I invest in this job or not. For the truth, the Novice Guardian job has a special place in my mind, one of the strongest hit and run, also glass cannon, with a good WIND area attack. After playing this job for a while, praising and loathing its instability, i finally write this review, so you guys have at least the rough idea, about what is THOR, and how to play him at least to be effective and efficient. This review aims to explore the intricacies of Thor's gameplay, highlighting its strengths and unique characteristics as a premier DPS option in the expansive world of Ragnarok Mobile.

Skills: (7/7 Rune Review)
Same as his predecessor, Thor boast the same level of WIND power and have an insane burst like novice guardian. His Skill is basically all CHANNELING skill. While he do that channeling skill, his pet, MJOLNIR randomly attacks 1 enemy within 8 metres. Dont ask me about the damage, it is enough to one/two hit dps. His other channeling skill also can spew 5 thunderbolts attacking enemies in 6 metres area. So imagine this, if facing 1v1 scenario, at 1 instance, Thor can land 6 hits, 5 thunders and 1 mjolnir hit upon his enemy. It is a good burst damage IMO.
He got 2 others chanelling skill worth mentioning, 1 is channeling buff skill, which boost his wind power, and the other one is to heal 10% of his hp every second. And for every channeling skill Thor did, his pet Mjolnir will randomly attack 1 enemy random in 8 metres.. With a skill sets tailored towards maximizing offensive capabilities, Thor excels in dealing heavy blows to enemies, making it a formidable force in both solo and team-oriented gameplay.

Defensive Skill -
Thor have a HP shield skill which mainly the only defensive skill that Thor have, that convert all damage Thor got to become wind dmg (which Thor have a very huge resistant on that area) for 20 second duration. The cooldown of this skill is around 24 seconds, which can be reduce by reducing cool down equipment.

Movement Skill -
Thor got 1 movement skill, which has similarity with Storm Spirits in DotA universe, basically he throw his Mjolnir to location, and that ungodly mace will stuck in that area, pressing again this skill will make Thor flying to that area and if that area have enemy, the enemy will also be struck by him. Not to forgot also, the initial throw of Mjolnir also deal a huge damage and dealt blood lost dmg also.

Crowd Control Skill -
Thor have a blackhole skill, which sucked his enemy into one places and slow their movement. This skill is so OP because it bypass eddga star card immunity of this kind of debuff.

So in short review, he got offensive, defensive, crowd control, and movement skills. In-term of job design on modern MMORPG, we praised the dev for creating this job for us. IMO the job class is best suited for players who thrive on the thrill of dealing massive damage while carefully managing their survivability. Thor may lack the adaptability of other classes, but its sheer destructive potential more than compensates for this limitation.

Adaptive Gameplay:
So the question is how to play this job. Well we spend 98 bcc to unlock this job, so its must be OP as fak right. This is a premium job, so this is supposed to be strong. Yes it is right in some degree, despite its specialization in DPS, Thor still offers players some degree of adaptability in gameplay. While the primary objective remains dealing damage, players can choose between different approaches to maximize their effectiveness. Whether focusing on single-target burst damage or area-of-effect crowd control skill, Thor provides players with op (in some area in theory)– too much in terms of defense.

For example, combining his already high wind resistance with dokaibi card / wind armor, proof to be super effective to boost his defensive capability. Adding a necessary relic like HP block or Wind Relic (the best) for Thor job makes already OP defensive skill to become nearly hard to penetrated in PVP Scenario.

Another example is boosting elemental damage and combining it with a poison proc it is also a good idea to boost damage.

Also important to watch over the resistance, having a good resistance to Crowd Control Skill like Stun, Freeze, Stone is really important for Thor because:

Combat Continuity: Stun, freeze, and stone are crowd control effects that immobilize or disable Thor, interrupting its attacks and disrupting its combat rhythm. Good resistance ensures Thor can maintain continuous damage output without being frequently incapacitated.
Survivability: Being immobilized leaves Thor vulnerable to enemy attacks, increasing the risk of taking significant damage or being eliminated from combat. Resistance to these effects improves Thor's survivability by reducing the likelihood of being incapacitated and allowing it to evade dangerous situations.
Optimal Damage Output: Thor's effectiveness in combat relies on its ability to consistently deal damage to enemies. Resistance to crowd control effects ensures that Thor can remain active and engage in combat, maximizing its damage output and contributing more effectively to battles.
Strategic Advantage: By resisting stun, freeze, and stone, Thor can maintain its position on the battlefield and continue targeting priority enemies or objectives. This strategic advantage allows Thor to exert greater influence in battles and contribute more meaningfully to the success of its team.. In order to play this job effectively, you must know his strengths and also his weaknesses. How to handle his weaknesses is the most important thing for Thor.

The Cons (Im highlighting these because this is important)
While Thor in Ragnarok Online Mobile is undoubtedly a powerhouse in terms of damage output, it's important to acknowledge its weaknesses to ensure a balanced understanding of the job class.

Fragile Defense: Thor's glass cannon nature means it sacrifices defense for offense. With a focus on maximizing damage output, Thor tends to have lower defenses compared to tank or support classes. This vulnerability makes Thor susceptible to taking significant damage from enemy attacks, requiring careful positioning and strategic gameplay to mitigate risks.
Limited Utility: Unlike some other job classes that offer a wide range of utility skills such as crowd control or healing, Thor's skill set is primarily geared towards dealing damage. I know some people said that we can make support / holder class for Thor, but for me with his limited support and defensive skill, it is not a good idea to make Thor a defensive or utility class.

Thor performs best when paired with support classes that can enhance its damage output or provide crowd control to protect it from enemy attacks. Without adequate support from teammates, Thor may struggle to maximize its potential in challenging scenarios. Thor without a Wind relic need 1 dedicated baby sister in order to boost his survivability, while we know support class already had their hand full.
High Skill Cap: Mastering Thor requires a high level of skill and precision. Players must effectively manage their resources, time their attacks, and position themselves strategically to optimize damage output while minimizing risks. This high skill cap may present a steep learning curve for newer players or those unfamiliar with the intricacies of DPS gameplay. For example, always moving around not always a good solution, because it will mess up with your auto targeting passive of your Mjolnir. While sticking around also not a good idea, because it will make u a target from enemy dps. It is important to know when to move and when to stop moving.
Susceptible to blood loss and reflect damage from the enemies, need no more explanatory. When you meet Soulbinder / other job with reflect dmg equipment, you will understand, why it is so bad for Thor.

Thor Weapon of course, that faking 3B mace is your only choice, goodluck on refining them. Best card would be Skill dmg card.
Armor:
Penetration Ancient Armor for boosting physical aspect of Thor Damage.
Elemental Ancient Armor: for boosting the elemental aspect of Thor Damage
Both of them is a good choice, really depend on your stat and handbook. So feel free to choose whatever best for yourself.
For card definitely would be Dokaibi Card for solo play, if got support it is a good idea to use poison proc using Chimera Card.

Skill damage Ancient Garments: with Zanubia Card (Clear enough on this one)
Footgear:
Physical Penetration Shoes with Moonlight Star Card that increase movement speed can help Thor maneuver more effectively in combat.
