INTRODUCTION
Garena Free City is an ambitious open-world RPG that attempts to bring a Grand Theft Auto-like experience to mobile gaming. Developed by Good Mobile Games Private, it has generated a lot of excitement due to its immersive gameplay, detailed environment, and dynamic missions. I spent several hours exploring the game, testing its mechanics, and seeing if it truly delivers on its promise. Hereβs my personal take on the game.
GAMEPLAY & EXPERIENCE
From the moment I jumped into Garena Free City, I could tell the game had serious potential. The world is vast, filled with various missions, and allows players to explore the city freely. The open-world design lets you engage in different activities, including racing, gang fights, and missions that shape the story. It reminded me of GTA-style mobile games but with a more RPG-focused approach.
The storyline is quite engaging. You start off as a small-time criminal trying to climb the ranks, encountering different factions and characters along the way. One aspect I really liked was the side quests, which added depth to the overall experience. However, despite the good storytelling, some parts of the game felt a bit rushed, with missing cutscenes or underdeveloped NPC interactions.
Combat is a mixed bag. The gunplay and movement mechanics feel a little stiff, almost like Free Fire, but the game still provides enough action to keep things interesting. Hand-to-hand combat, on the other hand, could use some polishing.
GRAPHICS & PERFORMANCE
Visually, Garena Free City is quite impressive. The lighting, textures, and cityscape are well-detailed for a mobile game. Some players have compared it to a mobile version of GTA Online π
, which is a ahmm fair comparison π€ (What do you think?) However, while the game looks great, it isnβt without issues. Some areas feel blurry, and optimization needs improvement. Occasional frame drops and lag were noticeable, especially when playing in busy areas.
MULTIPLAYER & COMMUNITY
One of the strongest aspects of the game is its multiplayer experience. You can interact with other players, take on missions together, and even engage in PvP fights. However, server latency issues were a problem for me, and some players outside the soft-launch regions have reported connectivity problems.

OVERALL:
Garena Free City is a solid attempt at bringing a full open-world RPG to mobile, and despite its flaws, I had a great time playing it. If the developers can improve optimization, fix the movement mechanics, and add more interactive elements, this could become a top-tier mobile game. Right now, good game with lots of room for improvement.
If you're into mobile RPGs with open-world elements, it's worth giving this one a shot!
