Ever had that moment? You're feeling confident, you push a corner, and suddenly you're getting shot from three different angles. You die instantly, staring at the ceiling, thinking, "What just happened?"
Chances are, it wasn't just their aim. It was your positioning.
Welcome to Tactics Tuesday, where we're diving into the art of using the map to your advantage. Because sometimes, the smartest move you can make is the one you make before the fight even starts.
The Golden Rules of Positioning & Cover
1. Never Wide Peek. Ever
"Wide peeking" is running out from behind a corner into the open. It's a death sentence. Instead, learn to "slice the pie". Peek the corner in tiny increments, exposing yourself to only one possible enemy position at a time. This turns a potential 1v3 into a series of winnable 1v1s.
2. The Off-Angle is Your Best Friend
Everyone expects you to be behind the most obvious box or corner. Don't be. Position yourself in an "off-angle"—a slightly unexpected spot that forces the enemy to adjust their crosshair after they've already pre-aimed the common spot. This buys you precious milliseconds.
3. High Ground isn't Just a Meme, It's the Law
Having the high ground gives you two massive advantages: you see more of them, and they see less of you (usually just your head). In modes like Control in #AceArena, the team that controls the high ground around the objective usually controls the match.
4. Isolate Your Fights
The ultimate goal of good positioning is to ensure you're always taking a fair fight (a 1v1). Before you move, ask yourself: "From how many angles can I be shot right now?" If the answer is more than one, you're probably in a bad spot. Use cover to block off other angles and force a one-on-one duel.
Mastering positioning is what separates good players from great ones. It's the difference between trading kills and dominating the lobby.
