Fate/Samurai Remnant is Koei Tecmo's upcoming action RPG and one of the latest developments in Type-Moon's Fate series. Unlike previous installments, Fate/Samurai Remnant takes place further in the past during the Edo period in the mid-17th century, and features traditional Japanese themes and styles.
As someone that's watched the anime series from time to time, I'm particularly interested in how this game will build on the Fate series and what combat could be like in the Edo period. I think the visuals are pretty cool too. The vibrant colors mixed with the anime-style look, makes the game appealing but not too far from any of the other Fate games or shows.
The game seems to be a mix of real-time and turn-based gameplay—with players being able to explore towns and acquire quests freely, and combat taking the experience to a more strategic and precise turn-based format.
Besides gameplay, the story is also pretty interesting. In Fate/Samurai Remnant, the main playable character named Miyamoto Iori finds himself caught in the violence of a Holy Grail War between seven pairs of masters and servants in Asakusa, Japan.
The narrative seems unique and intriguing and I like that it follows similar themes from other stuff in the Fate series. But it's also really cool that it takes its own twist on the series by taking place in very-early Japan where dignified samurais and lonely ronins wandered about. I'm excited to see how this game captures that era and how it integrates with the entire Fate universe, especially in what looks like such a beautiful action RPG.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is out now and I loved my time in this game. I enjoyed the overall experience and the quality of the character designs for the in game models and the combat was just super flashy and exciting. I highly recommend this game if you're a lover of action RPG anime games and the Fate/Type Moon series in general.

SHOULD I PLAY FATE/SAMURAI REMNANT?
If you have a fondness for hack-n-slash games, dramatic anime storytelling, or slick action-RPGs, then the answer is a resounding yes. Fate/Samurai Remnant may be the latest game from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force, but it’s far from a traditional “musou,” as that studio’s style of one-versus-one-thousand beat-em-ups is often called. Fate/Samurai Remnant heads in a more ambitious direction for its overall structure while still building on many of the elements that make the Warriors titles so beloved. The result is an excellent game that I really hope Omega Force emulates elsewhere.
