SHOULD I PLAY WIZARD OF LEGEND MOBILE?
Play it. Wizard of Legend Mobile delivers an exhilarating roguelike dungeon crawler experience full of magic and spells. Despite being a mobile port, it still offers the same dynamic and addictive gameplay seen in the PC and console versions, with the only issue being small dialogue boxes and text. TIME PLAYED
I played Wizard of Legend Mobile for three and a half hours. I’ve unlocked around fifteen spells and went on nearly thirty-some dungeon runs. The longest run I had was twelve-ish minutes where I reached the second boss fight and died. I’m currently trying to make my way to the third level in the game.
WHAT’S AWESOME ABOUT WIZARD OF LEGEND MOBILE?
• Killing monsters. Dashing across bottomless pits, electrifying enemies, and dodging skillshots felt freakin’ fantastic. Not only was it exciting to play around with magic and use it to obliterate enemies, but the game felt pretty balanced and challenging. I was always eager to jump into a new run whenever I died.
• A unique approach to spell-slinging. It’s been a while since I played the PC/console version of Wizard of Legend, and this mobile playthrough reminded me just how ridiculously big the spell variety is in this game. From lightning zaps to fireballs and tornados, I had such a great time mixing and matching different spells and basic attacks. • It’s an adventure. Like most roguelike games, it took a while before things started opening up, but once I gained enough resources to buy better spells and items, I saw my progress improve. Though I enjoy them, I’m not particularly skilled at dungeon crawlers, so it felt rewarding to see my efforts come to fruition in the form of successful stage clears and boss defeats.
• A charming look. Wizard of Legend Mobile features a beautiful pixel art style with vibrant colors and dark shading to provide visual depth. It’s one of the most visually refined pixel art games I’ve played to date.
WHAT SUCKS ABOUT WIZARD OF LEGEND MOBILE?
• Dialogue boxes. Wizard of Legend Mobile could benefit from a settings option to change the size of the game’s font and dialogue boxes to make reading text more comfortable. The current dialogue box and text size are too small; I had to strain my eyes to see what characters were saying or to read tutorial tips.
