The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI wasn't scheduled to arrive until tomorrow morning, but it has leaked over twelve hours early. Time to take a look! The biggest news from the trailer is the confirmation that the game will launch in 2025 rather than next year. The minute-and-a-half trailer goes by quick, but it provides a lot of incredible-looking in-game footage. That includes a look at what appears to be Grand Theft Auto's first female protagonist and her Bonnie and Clyde-style relationship with her boyfriend-slash-partner in crime. The trailer also confirms a return to the Miami-inspired Vice City as a setting, but this time seemingly in modern day rather than the '80s.

Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming action-adventure game in development by Rockstar Games. It is due to be the eighth main Grand Theft Auto game, following Grand Theft Auto V (2013), and the sixteenth entry overall. Set within the fictional open world state of Leonida, based on Florida, and its Miami-inspired Vice City, the story is intended to follow criminal duo Lucia and her male partner.[a] Following years of speculation, Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the game was in development. That September, footage from unfinished versions was leaked online in what journalists described as one of the biggest leaks in the history of the video game industry. The game was formally revealed in December 2023 and is scheduled to be released in 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
