Games worth discovering

ᴄʜᴜʙʙʏ ɴɪɴᴊᴀs, ᴅᴏɴᴜᴛs, ᴀɴᴅ ᴇxᴛʀᴇᴍᴇ ᴄᴀʀᴅɪᴏ..ᴊᴜsᴛ,ʏᴇs!

Ninja Chowdown, is a 2020 pixeled runner game published by Abylight Studios and developed by Dummy Dojo, based out of Southern California. This games mechanics are described as being “easy to pick up, hard to master“ ( and justifiably so). With its whimsical vivid design, and its comical premise, this title is sure to capture your attention and generate a few laughs.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʀᴄʜɪɴɢ ɴᴀʀʀᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ:
You play as Donutsu, a devoted ninja apprentice at the “Dough-Jo Donuttery“ under the watchful eye of Dango-Sensei. With the rising success of the business and information and speculation of its hidden secret (the Donut of Knoelwedge), numerous deadly foes and ninja clans come out of the woodwork to steal the Donut of Knowledge for themselves. You will fight waves of enemies, utlizing numerous weapons, across 35 amazingly crafted levels to take back what was rightfully yours (and enjoy “a few“ dounts along the way).

ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴇsɪɢɴ, ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇᴘᴛ, ᴀɴᴅ ʟɪɢʜᴛʜᴇᴀʀᴛᴇᴅɴᴇss ɪs ᴛʜɪs ɢᴀᴍᴇs ʙʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ʙᴜᴛᴛᴇʀ!

If you are a fan of runner games, this is a serious title that should be on your list. I haven’t enjoyed the genre in awhile, this has been a fantastic reminder that the runner genre still has tons of potential and lots of storytelling to be had with simplistic mechanics (jump and shoot). The pixel art is very similar to that of Dave the Diver in its level of detail, color palette and variation. The games UI is charming and clearly pays respect to Mario with its level map design. The audio design is energetic and engaging all around. This game hits all the marks, perfectly and masterfully.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴʟʏ ᴄᴏsᴛ ɪs ꜰᴏʀ ᴀᴅ ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴀʟ, ɪᴛ’s ᴡᴏʀᴛʜ ɪᴛ!

3 dollars is the cost for ad-removeal, but I look at it as brand support. With everything they were able to do with this game, and its level of care and design, its worth so much more in my opinion. Everything else can be bought with in game currency that you earn from completing levels. The shop is a cute little collection of cosmetics that make Donutsu look incredicle!

All in all, one of my favorite finds on TapTap, but more so, favorite finds period. I hope you take the time to give this little gem a chance. I can assure you, you won’t regret it!
