So, I love 4x games. So I've decided to compile a short(?) List of 4x games currently available on the Google play store. so,
*first of, what are 4x games???*
4x is a genre of games which, uh, actually I should just explain what they stand for -_-
Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate
If those 4 words don't already tell you what kind of games these are, then I won't be suprised.
In quick summary, you start a camp/nation/whatever the setting is, and you *expand*. To expand further, you need to *explore*. Once you expanded as much as you can, you start to *exploit* resources to grow your empire, eventually *exterminating* your enemies. You get it?
Now, not every game is going to look exactly like that, but it's a general idea of what's happening.
Alright, enough yapping, let's get on to the-
*LIST OF 4X GAMES*
- *Uciana* (paid) (do link work?) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.birdshel.Uciana
Probably the 2nd best out of all of them. Sure, maybe the graphics aren't the best, and the mechanics are pretty shallow, but for an easy 4x game with a fun gameplay loop, id say its pretty good.
- *polytopia* (free with microtransactions)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.midjiwan.polytopia
On the 3rd pedestal (yes, I'm going backwards) we have a neat "be in a war against everyone and still somehow win" game. It may sound boring, but it's not. It's hard to explain. Tho, to be fair the paid civs (idk what else to call them so I'll just call them civs) are pretty op, so take that with a grain of salt
- *rebuild 3* (paid)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.sarahnorthway.rebuild3
The fact this was labeled as 4x suprised me, but it makes the list longer, so I'll just slide this in. OK, the actual game, uh, it's fun. Well, fun for the first few playthroughs. After that, it gets extremely stale. But maybe that's just me.
- *abstrrkt explorers* (free) (no I'm not having a seizure)
I cant get the link just trust me in mot hallucinating
I'm just putting this here, but i played this a long time ago and can't really remember if it's good or not, so go check it out yourself.
- *rusted warfare* (paid with a free demo)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.corrodinggames.rts
Listen, I know it isn't classified as a 4x game, but I'd say its so similar, I might aswell ad it here. And it's so good. And it has mod support, which is pretty huge for a game like this.
Ah, finally, the end of the list. Surely there can't be a 4x game that is free, extremely huge and has a massive modding community, plus being being updated to this day, plus plus open source. There's no way such a thing exists... right?
- *unciv* (fully free!!!!!)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unciv.app
Oh... my... it really exists. And it's amazing. Its a near replica of civ 5 (the best civ game). And even if you don't like civ 5, there are plenty mods for this game that can change how you play in this game pretty significantly. I cannot describe how much I love this game, just gi play it right now.
Ok, now it's actually the end. Sure, it's a bit short, but definitely because I only wanted to put the best of the best in here, not because I don't want to type anymore :)))
If you have any more good 4x game suggestions to add, just drop a quick comment.
Anyways, have fun destroying you enemies!
