After doing the math, I was flabbergasted to see how generous this game is. Been a long time player, I know that this game has to be one of the most generous gacha I've played, but I did not expect them to be this generous.
What is Path to Nowhere?
Path to Nowhere is a 2 year old gacha game but it's not that well known outside of gacha community. The game is set in post apocalyptic world where we run a prison or maybe more of a rehabilitation center. We arrest this so called "sinners" which is basically like mutants from X-Men and take them to battle in a tower defense gameplay that plays very differently to normal tower defense if you play the game until the endgame.
What does the gameplay looks like?
Imagine a classic tower defense game, like PvZ or Arknights if we go by gacha example. But instead of deploying units one by one, we deploy all unit at the same time and if they die, they die. You have commander skill here to help your units. And the most crucial part is that, you can move your units. The game feels simple at the very beginning, but as you progress you will notice that moving is what makes the game feels so different than any other TD. Quick repositioning, dodging and blocking AoE attack, triggering tile effect, auto canceling(which is resetting your auto attack animation by moving while still have the attack delivered to maximize your damage). If Arknights have puzzle solving feeling in it, Path to Nowhere have that Dark Soul feeling.
PtN has shortest daily loop of 3:45 minutes that includes 55 seconds loading time, so this is the perfect side game material or a game for busy individuals. You can even sweep/skip the weekly endgame if you don't mind missing a third of a pull a week.
The gameplay is pretty hardcore and not for everyone, not even whaling can save you if you don't understand the mechanic. But, they are still pretty merciful towards casuals. They have story mode after chapter 8, so you can still enjoy the story if you struggle there. And majority of rewards can be earned without pushing yourself too hard.
So, how generous are they?
Look, this is just a third entry to this series but I don't think this number can easily be beaten.
To see how generous they are, let us first take a look at the monthly income :
44 pulls a day. 42 for lazy people that do bare minimum on Dark Zone. Already a great number.
As for the events :
Since the game is pretty unknown, I did not find a source with complete event income, so I did a lot of sampling from several events and tracking back past event from official news and community post to figure out their event pattern in a year.
There are a handful missing thing that is not included here. Such as some mini events and reruns, achievements, random hypercube from emotion check and surveillance, libram completion, several compensations, and maybe a few more things.
But overall, we get the majority of the income.
Overall income and collection rate :
120% collection rate!! Do they even make profit? This number can't be beaten easily. It's higher than Arknights and Reverse : 1999 from previous entries, by a very significant margin.
The pity system is really good here, 2% base rate with increase after 50th pull, 70 hard pity. 50/50 system with guarantee. And they give almost 900 pulls here(maybe actually be over 900 because the records does not show everything).
Also worth noting that the game is not dupe intensive, even in limited banners I never pulled for an extra copy(many do and that's fine the game gives enough), no equipment gacha, characters are added to standard pool after their banner end(except limited, need to wait for rerun), no excessive unit release, barely any powecreep issue compared to other gacha title I've played. They also have spark shop that can earn you units or dupes. Based on my experience of playing for almost 2 years, you can get 3-4 units per year from shop here.
But is it worth playing?
If you want a game with good story, good music, low time investment, semi realistic art style, challenging gameplay, relatively low FOMO, or just a really generous gacha game.. Path to Nowhere is a game for you.
The gameplay is niche and hard, and progression might feel slow at start(but once you get trough that wall it's smooth sailing), and artstyle is not for everyone.
If you want to give this game a try, there is still a week before anniversary event ends so better be quick because those freebies will help you progress faster.
Thank you so much for reading. I'll see you in the next episode.
What's the most generous gacha game you've played? Let me know in the comment. To me it's probably Destiny Child, but well... End of Service.
Limbus Company or Gagharv Trilogy

Gagharv Trilogy? never heard of that one. I'm playing Limbus Company right now, played since season 4. And actually did the math already. It's crazy how generous this game is.
