Remember Stargate? It's back—in real-time tactical game form!

For a certain type of dorky kid growing up in the '90s, the Stargate franchise was a formative gateway into goofy-yet-fun, low-budget sci-fi adventures. Beginning with the 1994 movie Stargate, the series quickly expanded out into multiple TV shows, comics, cartoons, books, and yes, video games. And while there hasn't been much going on with this IP in recent years, that's finally changing this week, as an all-new Stargate game has just launched...and you can even play the first mission for free.
Stargate: Timekeepers comes to us from the strategy heads at Slitherine, who were also involved with 2022's well-received Starship Troopers: Terran Command. Timekeepers is set at the end of Stargate: SG-1's seventh season and will follow new character Eva McCain as she attempts to help the Jaffa Rebellion. Accomplishing this will require sneaking around maps from a top-down view, pulling off stealth kills and daring tactics with a small team of specialists.

Most interestingly, Stargate: Timekeepers will itself be split into multiple seasons and parts. Season 1 Part 1 has launched this week, with Part 2 planned for later in 2024. However, players will get access to the full season with a single purchase. Whether or not future seasons are planned or will cost money is not clear right now.
While the full Stargate: Timekeepers Season 1 purchase runs $29.99 on Steam, there's a free demo available now that gives access to the first mission (called "episodes" here, in keeping with the TV show theme). Part 1 contains seven episodes in total, and Part 2 will have another seven whenever it launches later in 2024. For his part, TapTap editor Ian Boudreau really liked what he's played of Timekeepers so far. You can check out his review at the link below:

A cool stealth-tactics Stargate game was definitely not on my 2024 bingo card
SHOULD I PLAY STARGATE: TIMEKEEPERS? Probably! For one thing, the first mission is free, so there’s no harm in trying it out. That said, Stargate: Timekeepers is a real-time stealth tactics game that’s very much in the tradition of Mimimi Games’ Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, Desperados III, and Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. If you dug any of those games, you’ll probably like Stargate: Timekeepers—although Slitherine’s sci-fi tie-in lacks the polish and user friendliness that Mimimi perfected over its run.

Is it worth it? Is this the content that was promised? | Review - Overwatch 2: Invasion
Overwatch 2: Invasion introduces a series of story missions that expand upon the narrative universe of Overwatch 2. These missions focus on the invasion of Null Sector, a rogue Omnic group, and the heroes' efforts to combat this threat and restore order. The missions are designed to immerse players in dynamic PvE scenarios that delve deeper into the game's lore and offer engaging cooperative gameplay experiences.
