PLAY IT OR SKIP IT?
Play it. Snowbreak: Containment Zone is one of the most promising and fun gacha RPGs I’ve played in the past few years, already nearing the quality of Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and Honkai: Star Rail. The game explores a beautiful dystopian world and twists classic fantasy themes by primarily focusing gameplay on fast-paced combat with guns.
TIME PLAYED
I played Snowbreak: Containment Zone for four hours. I managed to get decently far into the storyline, progressing through three chapters and twenty-some missions. I’ve acquired fourteen characters and leveled eleven of them to level 15, which includes upgrading their weapons to the same level too. I’ve also reached profile level 15 as well.
WHAT’S AWESOME
• Narrative. The story in Snowbreak is really well-made and finds a good mix between serious stuff and witty banter. The game takes place in a future where humanity is slowly dying out due to an opposing force called Titans. Despite being trapped in such a dour situation, each of Snowbreak’s characters struck me as likable as I interacted with them in dialogue sequences. The cast is down-to-earth and funny, and the writing really gets across what they’re feeling on a deeper level. This sense of emotional connection made for a really charming experience.
• Combat. Like Genshin Impact, Snowbreak: Containment Zone allowed me to bring different characters with me on missions, change between them in combat, and use their abilities to topple down enemies. The fast pace of combat meant that I always needed to keep an eye on threats, manage my bullets, and swiftly dodge incoming blows, and all of these actions were smooth and beautifully animated. But my favorite part was blowing up robots and shooting down enemies. The wide range of enemies all featured their own play style I needed to overcome, and I found crushing each one of them in a gunfight to be exhilarating.
• Customization. One of my favorite parts of any RPG is the loop of equipping strong weapons and upgrading them over time—and Snowbreak had a wide variety of guns for me to find and power up for my characters. I enjoyed playing around with all the different sniper rifles, submachine guns, and shotguns that I collected and spent an awful lot of time in the customization menu experimenting with characters and finding the right synergies between their equipment.
• Characters. When you’ve played as many gacha RPGs as I have, a lot of the stereotypical character types start to blend together. But with Snowbreak, I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the characters felt unique. From the play styles to the personalities, Snowbreak’s cast genuinely break the mold compared to many competitors in the genre.
• Gacha. It’s hard to say for sure whether Snowbreak feels pay-to-win, since I was handed 190 character pulls and 180 weapon rolls for this closed beta. But from what I’ve played so far, the gacha system seems pretty reasonable and balanced. I’ve already pulled three five-star characters and unlocked almost every character in the game. The pity system for normal pulls is locked at eighty rolls, which is similar to Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail’s gacha mechanic. I personally found this system really forgiving and was able to secure a bunch of characters and weapons pretty easily.
• Visuals. Even though Snowbreak takes place in a run-down, futuristic world, this setting doesn’t take away from the quality of its visuals. Every area feels meticulously made, and the attention to detail in its environment really drives forward the dystopian vibe that this game introduces through its narrative.
WHAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
• Polish in character design. The only minor issue that Snowbreak faces is its character design. A lot of the characters have this plastic look that makes them stand out like a sore thumb when compared to the game’s beautiful environment and cutscenes.

IDK why PPL compare it to GI? It's entirely different compared to GI and also in a good way if you love TPS games with a good story plot, polished GFX, skill sets and a refreshing air😊

normies will now compare abso-fucking-lutely everything 3rd person on mobile with Genshit, regardless if said format has existed long long before. In fact, GI is nothing but a blatant Breath of the Wild rip-off but nope! Tears of the Kingdom came out and these fucks even called it Zelda "Impact" which is just ridiculous.
