After waiting tediously for a long period of time, many stumbled and fell yet the light of hope remained in them illuminated ; a hope, a chest of excitement and a lot of nervousness has finally been rewarded as Kuro games with their AAA title, reaching the crest of the popularity poll becoming the highest pre-registered game this year that has captured the heart of many avid gamers and reputable streamers alike and it's none other than : Wuthering Waves.
*The servers has been opened globally as the moment we speak, allowing everyone to finally have the taste of their reward for waiting this long.
• Now, let's delve a bit into the gaming mechanism and parts that I personally believe can be improved.
■ Aspects that has greatly been implemented :
1. ECHO SKILL :
The ability to absorb enemy residuals and incorporate them as skills, not only does it allow players to use extra skills beyond a character's default skill set allowing more combo but also makes every character all the more versatile and unique than they already are.
2. STAMINA FREE DASH :
During exploration stamina plays a crucial role allowing players to fasten their travelling speed by holding down the dodge button, not only does it allow more exploration but also saves plenty of time, battery in case of mobile players, maintaining a consistent flow of excitement throughout the exploration.
3. FLAT SURFACE PLUNGE :
In Genshin Impact this isn't a deliberate feature introduced by miHoYo but a certain glitch made it possible, it's been addressed as "Dragon Flag" and while this is indeed an useful trick if only the timing can be made perfect, without proper timing and skill utilisation it would be an utter failure, ultimately making it a completely advance move limited between a handful of people with extraordinary skills and even with that it's not consistent.
However, this has become a gameplay feature in Kuro's brand new game; allowing for a higher jump with the cost of stamina and while the character is on air it can plunge their way to the ground dealing significant damage to the enemy exposed to the hit, this movement can be performed multiple time till the stamina runs out, while they allowed easy roaming, they balanced it by making the jump costly.
Keep this in mind though, that you cannot jump or dodge if your stamina runs out so better be careful with fights and all.
4. PARKOUR :
I don't think I need to explain this but incase someone who has never heard of the phenomena:
It allows a person, in this context a character to reach high elevated surfaces or run by the wall by incorporating specific movements, to simply put—it's the coolest thing you can do to make your dull running desirable, a small yet effective feature as with this, players are no longer required to make annoying detours to reach the opposite side of a palisade.
•Now since we're done serving the delicious foods made in the main course it's time for some vegetables.
■ Aspects that needs to be fixed/improved :
1. SERVER PING INSTABILITY :
Even with the most technologically flagship device that let's you play at the highest possible graphic settings smoothly yet your server bottlenecks it almost making it unplayable the server fluctuates in the most extreme possible end as it displays 999+ at moment and 99 in the next, while people might say I probably have a dire internet connection which, indeed is a valid reasoning but on the same connection I have played another title made by Kuro Games and it's called Punishing: Gray Raven in which the following issues never emerged, besides PGR I also have had my experience with Genshin Impact, Aether Gazer and similar titles, which I still play to this day, has never popped up any server issues at all, therefore all I can say is within my experience the following issue lingers somewhere else and it certainly isn't in my smartphone or internet connection.
2. SLUGGISH MOVEMENTS :
Just as the point speaks, the general movements ( especially running ) of the characters doesn't feel like upto the standard, the movements in PGR are better so in this aspect I think it needs to br worked on, the dash and other movements are completely fine and exactly what I expected them to be.
3. EXCESSIVE USE OF SFX ON WATER :
The sound effect it makes while you go through them are nice and realistic when the water level is high, depending on the movement intensity of the character it should make different sounds as walking through water wouldn't compose the same sound as running through it and vice versa, optimising the sound is the way to go.
■ Conclusion :
While the positive aspects certainly stand out, the game still has areas that need serious attention.
However, the character designs are quite impressive and captivating. I personally chose the FMC (female main character) because I liked her design the most. She is both cute and stoic, which is a delightful combination.
I also took a adoring intrest to the character YangYang. She was the first character introduced in the trailer and the first non-main character we received. Despite being a four-star character, her gameplay is so intriguing that she feels like a five-star character. This makes me even more curious about what the actual five-star characters will be like.
■ Overall Rating : 6/10
• Good work! everyone if you've made it this far.
